Private Residence in Garðabær

Scheme 1:  420m² single-family house, including a home office and a separate junior apartment, all accessible from a central courtyard.

The building is to be partially submerged into the sloping landscape of the plot, but the main form is to be seen as a hovering element. This provides privacy for the spaces and at the same time frames the main views on the nearby lava-landscape.

Scheme 2: The house is enlarged to 480 m², where the central courtyard becomes a large, open, connecting space inside the house, punctured with an interior garden.
