BROKEY Yacht Club

This project was prepared for the Reykjavík City Yacht Club – BROKEY, on its site located at the docks adjacent to the HARPA Concert Hall. The project was meant to fulfil their activities as a club and as a place for their competitions on the “outer” harbour.

The upper level was made as a clubhouse, where meetings would be held, and also as a sitting room and an office, with a competition control centre. The lower level had three functions, one as a service space to guests travelling the oceans and needing a place to clean up, but also as a storage facility. The other one was a kitchen and restaurant, meant to cater to the club members and guests during their competitions and gatherings. The facility was also meant as a revenue-building to raise money for the club. At the same time, it was meant to be a destination for tourists, wanting to experience the activities of the harbour, whilst having a view on Reykjavík as well as on Harpa Hall.

This project was done according to the clubs analysis and space requirement. The scheme shows a lower level at 310m² and upper level at 180m², in all 490m².
