Columbia University 4th Street Library
Columbia University 4th Street Library
The library aims to house a collection of audio and audio-visual recordings of active verbal communication as well as transcriptions: plays, speeches, television and movie scripts or monologues. There are classrooms for one up to six people, enabling listening to recordings, to speak a text or script, or to make recordings. The lobby doubles for an occasional performance space for weekly public readings by poets, actors, or political figures.
The library is sited adjacent to the NYU Campus. The building will be open to the general public but will also serve NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
